Unit 5, Day 3

Unit 5, Day 3: Objective: Students will be able to find the number of outcomes for compound events, identify independent an conditional events, and compute probability and odds.

Define: Compound events- an event that consists of two or more events that are not mutually exclusive.
Independent events- When two events are said to be independent of each other, what this means is that the probability that one event occurs in no way effects the probability of the other event occurring.
Conditional events- Conditional probability deals with further defining dependence of events by look at probability of an event given that some other event occurs.
Computing probability- Probability is an estimate of the chance of winning divided by the total number of chance available.
Odds- Odds are ratios of a players chance of losing to his or her chances of winning, or the average frequency of a loss to the average frequency of a win.
